Stand Alone Printer Solutions
What if your
thermal label printer could…
> Receive data directly from a barcode scanner, keyboard, weight scale, or
other devices?
> Process data and manipulate label format variables independently?
> Interact with your host database or ERP system?
> Read and write data to and from a printer-resident look-up table?
You Can!
Datamax has added a new, simpler MCL based
application development tool for intelligent printing – 123 Print. For
stand-alone printer based data collection applications, that do not require
remote host connectivity, 123 Print provides an easy, graphical user interface
for assembling powerful applications for your Datamax
printer. Like MCL-Designer, 123 Print supports the connection of serial devices
like bar code scanners, keyboards, and weight scales to Datamax
MCL enabled printers for collecting data and interacting with the 123 Print MCL
application.
An MCL-enabled Datamax printer becomes an intelligent printer with the
ability to accept input from devices such as barcode scanners, weigh scales,
full-size QWERTY keyboards, or other peripherals. The printer-resident MCL
application can then process received data and perform any number of resulting
functions such as updating a remote database, updating a printer-resident
lookup table, prompting the Datamax printer operator
to enter additional data on an attached keyboard, or last but not least –
output a barcode label!
In instances where it is not desirable to have a personal computer host a data
collection application (security concerns, maintenance concerns, cost of
ownership, etc.) or to control a label printing process, and a thermal label
printer is required as part of the solution, an MCL-enabled Datamax
printer can serve as both application host and thermal barcode label printer.
Efficiencies can be gained through increased application stability, security,
ability to easily modify the application, and expenses saved through the
absence of PC placement and ongoing maintenance.
This tested application uses a bar code scanner or keyboard to enter the data into the printer when prompted and create a label.be matched.
If necessary, data linked to the label can be retrieved from a database on the network or a look up table stored on the printer.
